With a family background in the transport industry, Mr. Umashankar had an early understanding of the business and its people. His father was also in the transport industry in Karnataka, giving him first-hand exposure to the field from an early stage. On August 1, 1999, he founded Coorg Cabs with the vision of building a reliable travel service while creating opportunities for the people behind every journey. Today, Umashankar continues to be actively involved in the transport industry through his memberships with Bus & Car Operators Confederation Of India (BOCI), All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA), All India Car Rental Association (AICR), and SKÅL, along with his association with Rotary District 3181. Since 2023, he has served as Vice President of Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owners Association (BTTOA). For him, Coorg Cabs is about creating opportunities beyond the journey itself. His vision is to continue expanding the fleet and creating more opportunities for drivers while building a stronger transport network that grows together with Coorg Cabs.
